I'm sorry about this.

Really I am.

Blame Bernard Cribbins.

There I was, a-filkin' this song
A song about some people who I know on afp it was
And there was I, filkin it fair
It was stressed fairly proper and the rhymes were there
When along comes this bloke with the nickname
Which he changes for every thread
Oh he looked down the filk and he said:

"Do you mind if I make a suggestion? -

Don't post there, post it elsewhere,
You're posting too many and it's really not fair
The scansion's all wrong, it's much too long
And you can't put a filk where a filk don't belong"

I ask you, what a liberty, eh? Nearly bashed him right in the L-space.

Well there was I, a-stuck in me filk
Cramming in jokes and mild affectionate pokes I was,
And there was he, reading along
Couldn't join in because he didn't know the song
So I gave him a look sort of sideways
And I stopped my poor rhyming and sighed
Oh I wrote me a post that would flame him to toast, I replied:

"I just couldn't bear to post it elsewhere
I'm posting it here 'cos I don't want it there
And if you disagree it doesn't bother me
Here's the place where the filk's gonna be."

Well there we were, discussing this filk
Filk on afp, yea long and sort of [I] it was
It's still there now, the froup filks on,
And I still don't see what I did so very wrong
So that's that!

who actually agrees with MPK here, but just couldn't stop this song from coming to mind when he read this thread - and you'll agree it'd look pretty silly in rec.arts.music.filk...
