John Keel

Did ye ken John Keel with his cloak so brown?
Did ye ken John Keel with his scarr-ed frown?
Did ye ken John Keel, proceeding round Morpork town?
At an ungoldly hour of the morning?

For the sounds of a riot brought me from my bed,
But 'twas redirected by the Watch he led.
HIs bellowing orders would awake the dead,
And ye can ask Reg Shoe in the morning!

Yes, I kenned John Keel and Wiglet too,
Dickins, Nancyball, Snouty, Coates and Shoe
They did the job they didn't have to do
At an ungodly hour of the morning.

And I followed John Keel, as you can tell,
And he taught me a watchman doesn't need a bell,
You need to do more, when all's not well,
Than shout out the time of the morning!

So, here's to John Keel, and we all know why,
Though I was surprised to find he was I,
Still I'll wear the lilac 'till the day I die,
At some ungodly hour of the morning.

Dave
