You Took The Words Right Out Of My Song
(A Filk Victim's Lament)
(to the tune of You Took the Words Right Out Of My Mouth by Meat Loaf)

It was a hot summer night and the 'net I was trawling
There was lag from my ISP's host
When I came across your filk I hear my lawyers calling
I see my copyright
Blasted by your devious post...

You were posting your filk and your modem was hummin'
I was dying just to cut off your line
But a policeman caught me
By the light of the moon
Now I might well end up doin'
Might well end up doin'
Might well end up doin' some time...

It sounded so close that my knees grew weak
But I gotta get my lawyers round
I'm trying to sue, but no matter what I do
I can't seem to find the legal grounds

Because you took the words right out of my song
Oh -- It must have been while you were filking me
You took the words right out of my song
And I swear it's true
I was just about to say I sue you...

Now my fist is shaking like a taxicab driver's
And I think my chance of winning is real
When the case is done, I can sue for what I want to
The law's an ass
But I've got the dough to hire her -
I'm gonna hire Ally McBeal...

You were posting your filk and your modem was hummin'
I was dying just to cut off your line
But a policeman caught me
By the light of the moon
Now I might well end up doin'
Might well end up doin'
Might well end up doin' some time...

Because you took the words right out of my song
Oh -- It must have been while you were filking me
You took the words right out of my song
And I swear it's true
I was just about to say I sue you...
Because you took the words right out of my song
Oh -- It must have been while you were filking me
You took the words right out of my song
And I swear it's true
I was just about to say I sue you...
